1st Sunday of Advent

AS WE GATHER
What do you typically do when an important guest is coming to visit? We clean the house, prepare the dinner menu, put on nice clothes, all in anticipation of their arrival. The season of Advent is such a time of preparation. Beginning a new Church Year, we prepare ourselves to welcome Jesus, our Lord and Savior, who comes to dwell among and in His people. It is this coming, into our hearts and lives, received by faith, that brings us into Him, and into His story – that story of redemption, life and hope. As He has come once already, we seek to prepare ourselves in repentant joy to receive Him who humbly yet powerfully still comes to us in Word and Sacrament by His Holy Spirit. Let the Advent journey begin! Rejoice to be written into His story!
