AS WE GATHER
With this Sunday, the Church prepares for the “long, green season” that turns our attention to the teachings of our Lord. These are often called the “Sundays in Ordinary Time,” but there is nothing ordinary about them. Rather, they sketch out the character and contours of the Church’s life…, beginning with our praise for the Trinity.
It is a deep and complex doctrine. Our eyes tend to glaze. But the implications of knowing God as Father, Son and Holy Spirit, three persons yet one God, brim with joy, awe, delight and amazement. Inspiring humility, love and affection, the Trinity provokes worship, wonder and praise. Finally, as this Sunday is Trinity Sunday, the namesake of our congregation and our confession of the God who loves us with an everlasting love, a celebration is most in order. Welcome to worship, in Jesus’ name!
