The Face of Mercy

AS WE GATHER
As recent and not so recent times of distress have demonstrated, mercy takes many forms when it comes to alleviating pain and suffering in this world. From “Mercy Ships” that bring much needed health care, to Red Crosses and Crescents that symbolize compassion by way of food, clothing and shelter, God provides for the needs of the last, least and lost. And then there is Jesus, whom God sends to us out of love and compassion to bring healing of another kind. Yes, Christ comes in love to forgive our sins, bring us into His presence, and to embrace our burdens as His own. Mercy takes many forms, but it comes perfectly in only one face–Jesus Christ, our Lord!
