1st Sunday in Lent
February 22, 2026
AS WE GATHER
Sin! It’s not the way it’s supposed to be. Nor the infectious disharmony, condemnation, suffering, darkness, or death it has wrought. Whether the world, or even we ourselves, fail to acknowledge its presence, we certainly know and feel its consequences, culminating in the coups de grace – when a sinless Savior suffers and dies for this sinful planet, for you and me. However, as Lent schools us, and God’s Word assures us, Jesus’ death is also the holy remedy to the fact that sin should be present in this world at all. Yes, Jesus is the living reminder that just as sin has entered it through one man, the free gift and grace of God does also. As we once again begin this Lenten cycle, let us fly fleet footed to Him, and the victory over sin, death and hell that is ours in His name.
