AS WE GATHER
As Jesus continues His Sermon on the Mount, He commissions His disciples to be “salt and light.” Like the Beatitudes it is not a matter of what we “should, could, or would be,” our status is based solely on the gracious declaration of who we are in Him, and in the forgiveness of our sins. As God reminds us in Isaiah 55: “….as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.” His mercy poured out at Calvary’s cross defines and blesses us, forming and shaping us to be a people alive to, and living in mission. As “salt and light” be blessed in His love, blessed also to share that love with others in His name.
